Where to List Your Event in Wales for Free

Ten platforms that accept free event listings across Wales, what each is best for, and where the fees start.

Short answer

You can list an event in Wales for free on several platforms, and most organisers use more than one. Eventbrite and Skiddle are free to list on when your event is free to attend, and charge a booking fee per ticket once you start selling. TicketSource and Ents24 also accept free listings, with Ents24 focused on live entertainment. Cwtch Events lists any Wales event free in both English and Welsh, and charges 3% + 30p only on tickets actually sold. Regional newspapers, including the South Wales Guardian, run free community event calendars, and most Welsh councils accept submissions through their tourism sites such as Visit Cardiff. For community and family events, WhereCanWeGo and a public Facebook event page add reach at no cost. The practical approach is to list on one ticketing platform, one council or newspaper calendar, and one community noticeboard.

No single platform reaches everyone in Wales. A gig listed only on a national ticketing site will miss the community audience a council calendar reaches, and a village fête listed only on a parish page will miss everyone searching nationally. The list below is ordered by how much reach it adds for the effort, and it names the platforms that beat us at particular jobs.

Free event listing platforms for Wales, ranked

  1. 1

    Eventbrite

Best for reach and for anything ticketed

The largest audience of any platform on this list and the one most people search first. Listing is free for free events; paid events carry a per-ticket fee. Worth using even if you also list elsewhere, purely for discovery.

  2. 2

    Skiddle

Best for gigs, club nights and festivals

Strong in music and nightlife across South and North Wales, and it syndicates listings out to other event apps. If your event is a gig or a club night, this reaches an audience the general platforms do not.

  3. 3

    TicketSource

Best for theatre, community halls and societies

Widely used by Welsh theatres, choirs and amateur dramatic societies. Free to use for free events, with fees passed to the ticket buyer on paid events — which is why so many community groups choose it.

  4. 4

    Cwtch EventsThat’s us

Best for bilingual listings and Wales-specific discovery

Lists every event in both English and Welsh from one submission, with a Cymraeg filter so Welsh-speaking audiences can find events run in the language. Free to list, 3% + 30p on tickets sold, no monthly fee and no setup cost. Smaller audience than Eventbrite or Skiddle — use it alongside them, not instead of them.

  5. 5

    Ents24

Best for live entertainment and comedy

The UK's largest live entertainment guide. Accepts free submissions for music, comedy and theatre, and feeds a long-standing audience of gig-goers who browse rather than search.

  6. 6

Your local council or tourism site

Best for local and visitor audiences

Visit Cardiff, Visit Swansea Bay, Go North Wales and This Is Wrexham all take free event submissions, as do most county council sites. These rank well for "what's on in {town}" searches and are trusted by visitors planning a trip.

  7. 7

    Regional newspapers

Best for community reach, including offline

The South Wales Guardian, and similar titles across Wales, run free community event calendars. Submissions are sometimes picked up for the print edition as well, which reaches an audience no website does.

  8. 8

    WhereCanWeGo

Best for markets, fairs and family events

A UK-wide community diary heavily used by families and older audiences looking for town hall events, markets and fundraisers. Unfashionable, free, and genuinely well used.

  9. 9

    Facebook Events

Best for sharing and word of mouth

A public Facebook event is indexed by search engines and, more importantly, is the format Welsh community noticeboard groups actually share. Low effort, and still where a lot of local turnout comes from.

  10. 10

    Awni

    Best for Welsh-language music specifically

A dedicated platform mapping Welsh-language gigs across Wales. If your event is a Cymraeg music night, this is the most targeted audience available and we would list there too.

Common questions

Is it actually free to list an event, or are there hidden fees?
Listing itself is free on every platform above. Fees only appear when you sell tickets, and they differ: some deduct from your payout, others add a booking fee for the buyer. If your event is free to attend, you can list across all ten of these without paying anything.
How many platforms should I list on?
Three is usually the right number: one ticketing platform for reach, one council or newspaper calendar for local trust, and one community noticeboard for sharing. Beyond that you spend more time updating listings than you gain in attendance.
Do I need to list in Welsh as well as English?
You are not required to, but bilingual listings reach audiences that English-only listings do not, particularly in Gwynedd, Ceredigion, Ynys Môn and Carmarthenshire. Some platforms, including Cwtch Events, will hold both languages against a single event so you only submit once.
How far in advance should I list?
Six to eight weeks for a ticketed event, so listings have time to be indexed and shared. For free community events, three to four weeks is usually enough. Listing later than two weeks out significantly reduces the audience you reach through search.

We run Cwtch Events, so treat our own entry with the scepticism it deserves — it sits fourth here because Eventbrite, Skiddle and TicketSource genuinely reach more people. Fee structures on third-party platforms change; check the current terms on each site before committing. Last reviewed 13 September 2026.
