The Best Websites for Finding Events in Wales
Where to look for what is on across Wales, grouped by what each site actually covers well.
Short answer
The best website for finding events in Wales depends on what you are looking for. For national coverage and major festivals, Visit Wales and Wales.com list the big cultural and sporting events, while Cadw covers castles and heritage sites. For gigs, club nights and comedy, Skiddle and Ents24 have the deepest listings, and Songkick tracks tours by artist. For a specific city, the official tourism sites are strongest: Visit Cardiff, Visit Swansea Bay and Go North Wales each maintain detailed local calendars. Cwtch Events covers events across ten Welsh cities in both English and Welsh, with a filter for events run in Cymraeg. Awni maps Welsh-language music specifically. For community events, markets and fundraisers that never reach the national platforms, your county council site and regional newspaper calendars are usually the only places they appear.

No one site has everything. National platforms carry the large ticketed events but miss village fêtes; council calendars carry the fêtes but rarely the touring gigs. This list is grouped the way people actually search — by the kind of thing they are trying to find.
Where to look, by what you are looking for
Visit Wales
National coverage and major festivals
The official tourism portal for Wales. Best for the large, well-known events — Green Man, Hay Festival, the National Eisteddfod — and for planning a trip around one.
Skiddle
Gigs, club nights and festivals
The deepest listings for music and nightlife in Wales, with lineups, set times and venue detail. If you want to know what is on in Cardiff or Swansea on a Friday night, start here.
Visit Cardiff, Visit Swansea Bay, Go North Wales
A specific city or region
Official city and regional tourism sites keep the most complete local calendars, including theatre, exhibitions and city-centre events the national platforms skip. The first place to look if you know where you are going.
Cwtch EventsThat’s us
Bilingual listings and Welsh-language events
Covers events across ten Welsh cities with every listing in both English and Welsh, and a filter for events actually conducted in Cymraeg. Younger and smaller than the tourism sites, so use it alongside them rather than on its own.
Awni
Welsh-language music
Maps Welsh-language gigs across Wales on an interactive map with ticket links. The most focused source there is for Cymraeg music, and better at it than any general platform including ours.
Ents24
Live entertainment, comedy and theatre tours
The UK's largest live entertainment guide, with long-running coverage of touring comedy and theatre dates in Welsh venues.
Eventbrite
Workshops, courses and independent events
Where independent organisers put workshops, pop-ups, networking and grassroots gatherings. Patchy for large events, excellent for the small ones nothing else lists.
Cadw
Castles, heritage and family days out
The official heritage body for Wales, listing re-enactments, tours and family activities at castles and historic sites. Unmatched for this category and easy to overlook.
Your county council website
Community events, markets and fundraisers
Local authority and community calendars carry the village hall events, markets and fundraisers that never reach a national platform. Unglamorous, and often the only place these appear.
Songkick and Bandsintown
Following specific artists
Track the artists you care about and get told when they play Wales. Better than searching by city if your interest is a particular band rather than a particular night out.
Common questions
- What is the single best site for what is on in Cardiff this weekend?
- Visit Cardiff for breadth across theatre, exhibitions and city events, and Skiddle for music and nightlife specifically. Between those two you will see almost everything happening in the city on a given weekend.
- Where do I find Welsh-language events?
- Awni is the most focused source for Welsh-language music. Cwtch Events carries a Cymraeg filter across all event categories, not just music. For eisteddfodau, the National Eisteddfod site and local Menter Iaith branches list events that appear nowhere else.
- Why do different sites show completely different events?
- Because organisers choose where to list, and most only list in one or two places. A touring band uses a ticketing platform; a village show uses the council calendar. Neither appears on the other, which is why checking two or three sources is usually necessary.
- Are there free events in Wales worth looking for?
- A great many. Tafwyl in Cardiff and the Wales Airshow in Swansea are both free and among the largest events in the country. Council and tourism calendars are the best places to find free community events, since free events are less likely to be listed on ticketing platforms.
We run Cwtch Events and have placed ourselves fourth, below three sources that currently cover Wales more comprehensively than we do. Listings and coverage change; this page is reviewed periodically. Last reviewed 13 September 2026.
